Diagnostics

We Are A Full-Service Hospital, And Have Upgraded Our Diagnostics To Include:

Digital full body radiology, full suite of in-clinic blood diagnostics, urinalysis, fecal analysis, digital dental radiographs, ultrasound, electrocardiogram.

Blood work:

  • Blood work can provide valuable information, whether part of wellness screening, or when working up a sick patient.
  • Based on need, we will either send out blood work to our full-service lab, or run in-clinic.

Fecal Analysis:

  • We recommend a fecal exam for all our puppy and kitten visits, as well as annual wellness exam in our adult patients.
  • Any time a pet is experiencing diarrhea or abnormal bowel movements, a fecal exam is recommended.

Urinalysis:

  • A urinalysis is often recommended in combination with blood work panels, to provide a more complete picture.
  • A urinalysis will be requested any time there is a concern in the ability of a pet to urinate, or a change in the amount, or frequency of urination, or a change in the colour.
Presqu'ile Animal Hospital and Day Clinic

Digital Radiographs:

  • X-rays are a non-invasive way to assess changes within the thorax, abdomen, or skeletal system. With digital radiographs, we can easily submit your pet’s radiographs to a board-certified radiologist in cases where a second opinion or help with interpretation is required.

Dental Radiographs:

  • Intra-oral dental radiographs are an invaluable and integral component of providing dental services, and are considered standard of care.

Ultrasound:

  • Presqu’ile Animal Hospital has use of an in-clinic ultrasound for basic needs, but for more advanced imaging and diagnosis, we will schedule your pet with a travelling specialist that can come to our clinic.

Electrocardiogram:

An electrocardiogram, or ECG, is used as part of our routine anesthetic monitoring of all our patients. We also have the ability, through telemedicine, to send our ECG recordings directly to a cardiologist in cases of abnormal heart function, and can get immediate feedback and treatment recommendations.
